Help!

I need some opinions.  I designed this for someone who wanted something "geometric."  What do you think?  Please, I need some feedback.  I won't bite your head off if you hate it.

Without Further Adeu...

Here is the first thing from Sola Scriptura that I actually sat down and stitched after I finished designing it:

I made two of them and next I have to stitch the back part and finish it up.

Boxes Finished

I finished both fall themed boxes today.

I think they turned out ok.

A bit of fall

We really don't get "fall" like I had at home in WI here in TX.  No leaves changing colors really.  The only difference is that it's 70s and 80s instead of 100s and it might rain a bit more.  I decided to take a break from Christmas to stitch this little Mill Hill kit.

I also had a bought of insomnia this morning so I got up and watched some Stargate and finished stitching this:

Christmas SCRAP Raid

SCRAP put out a bunch of Christmas stuff that they had donated.  Yeah, I had to stop by.  I'm steadily massing stash that will take me 100 years to stitch.  Don't care though.  I found some exciting stuff.

Let me start with the most awesome project ever:
This is a plastic canvas nativity.  I was looking at it when I got home and  IT HAS LIGHTS!!!!!
Like actual Christmas lights.  Those aren't stars in the background, they're LIGHTS!
I'm so EXCITED!!!!!!
We know how much I love perforated paper.  These Magi are made out of perforated paper.  Metallic perforated paper to boot.  Hee hee hee.
I have I and II.  I saw III today.  Go Texas!
My husband likes old English cottages.  He should like these
You know how I'm making Christian symbols for my Christmas tree?  Are these not perfect?
For Adèle, my Pooh girl.
I needed a present for my mother-in-law.  She liked the stitched quilt I made her last year.  She should like these.

October teapot, an ornament, an idea and a box

I finished the October teapot.

So, all I have left is March, November and December and then the corners.  It's kinda nice to be over half way.

I've cut back on my stitching a bit because my husband said that I was stitching too much.  But, I did start a third ornament in the divine set.

I had an idea.  I want my husband to build me a little shelfy thing to hang on the wall so I can put different seasonal stuff on it to change it with the seasons.  He thought it was a good idea but we'll have to get some wood.  I'll let you know if that happens.

And last, I was switching out the girls clothes (it's getting colder here, with lows in the 60s so we need pants now).  Adèle fell in love with a box.  Now I have an Adèle boxed set ;)

Blog Hop: Your Favorite Project

What has been your favorite project to stitch? (either finished or in progress)

I really liked stitching Vino Rosso.  It was just about the right size and it's beaded which I think makes it more interesting.

I also really enjoyed working on the Fairy Tale Sampler.  It has both beads and veregated floss

The Glue Hath Dried

And here's what I have now:

I did them as padded ornaments so I put batting behind the Aida and then glued it to some nice backing board I got at SCRAP for $.25.  Then I attached the backing fabric that I also got at SCRAP to another piece of backing board and glued the two halves together and used the cording to hide the gap.  I thought it turned out well.

On to the October teapot!  I started it but realized that I had got off after about 30 minutes of stitching so it's time to frog :(

A SCRAP run for finishing supplies

Today I traveled to SCRAP to get some supplies to finish my first two beaded Christmas ornaments.  Then I had to make a Hobby Lobby run for a few other finishing touches (like more beads)

The backing fabric was $.75 and was already batted so I don't have to worry about batting on the back.
The cording on the right I got at Hobby Lobby to put around the edges.
While I was at SCRAP, I also found these very fall-themed kits:

They are Mill Hill kits and they are boxes with all the supplies and stuff.

The glue is drying on my ornaments.  Should be able to show them off tomorrow.

September Teapot

I finished the backstitching tonight.  Here's what the teapots look like so far.

I think I might pick up a lottery ticket

Because I want to open my own needlework store.

After 2 1/2 months of not working, I'm tired of unemployment but teaching jobs are hard to get and I really really really really don't want to go back to a call center.

So, I think I should just win the lottery and then I can open up my own needlework store in Denton.  I even have a building in mind off the square in Denton that would work perfectly (I think it's vacant, not 100% on that though).

Imagine:

A needlework store that has all your favorite flosses and fabrics.  And I might stock some specialty yarns too.  There's also a room filled with comfy chairs and really good lighting that's reserved for stitchers to come in and stitch.  And there'd be a big screen TV so we can have football 'n stitch and such.

And for my husband, we would have a train layout (with cross stitched buildings and such) that we would change for the different seasons.  Just because.

[sigh] never going to happen though.

I'm on a Rotation

Due to the fact that the Divine Ornament set is all in the same color and we all know I went a bit stir crazy with the whitework piece earlier this year, I'm rotating between the Divine Ornaments and the teapot set.  I finished the February one while I watched some football.

Here it is as it stands with a partial September pheasant teapot.

I looked at my finishes list.  HOLY COW!  Have you seen how many pieces I have finished?  I guess being laid off does make you productive.

One ornament done

I finished the first of my five ornies today.  I think I'm gonna need more beads...

I started a new project

As it's getting closer to Christmas, I've started to work on stuff for my tree.  My husband wants to do the tree in only Christian symbols and ornaments this year so I'm working to make lots of stuff for that.  I already have those Christmons made (and I still have a lot more to go).  I decided to start work on the Divine Ornament set out of the Christmas Quickies book.  There will be some beadwork involved.

I have the Good Tidings about half stitched, just have to do the border.  I started the other two because I cut the Aida and wanted to make sure I found the center before I put them down.  It calls for 28 count linen but I'm using 14 ct. Aida because it's what I have and I think it should have the same effect.  But mostly because it's what I have to work with.  I don't mind Aida so much.  The stiffness should make it easier to finish.

I made my youngest very happy

Adèle LOVES Ducky Momo.  Sadly, Ducky Momo is really only in like 5 minutes total of one episode of Phineas and Ferb and Disney chose not to make a plush.  :(  So, I started making one and today, I finished it.

I know it doesn't have the crown on the top of the head but she likes it.

It was a lot of work because I had to figure out a pattern and then the yellow fabric is very slippery which made it hard to work with and the feet and eyes are made of this very plush but very sheddy material.

It...is FINISHED!

Well, I finally finished primary stitching on Winter's Twilight Stocking tonight.  All I have to do is sew the stockings up.  I will also do Adèle's stocking which I was saving to finish until I had this stocking completed (it's always better to do them en masse).

Here's a pic:

We also organized our tea today.  Since Amitea opened in town, we've been trying lots of different kinds of tea.  Today we went to Grapevine so my husband could get his PG Tips loose tea as he now prefers that over the tea bags.  He also picked up some China Rosepetal Tea.  I found some Wild Rose White Tea at Central Market.  Really really tasty.  I've been into white tea and Jasmine green tea lately.  The flowers add a nice flavor with the tea.

It's best to keep your tea in containers that you can vacuum seal and remove the air.  We don't have the finances for that, so we go for the next best thing:  glass containers from World Market.  Those little ones were like $1.39 a piece and the small canisters were $2.99.  I got out my Dynmo label maker and now we can tell what is what.

Almost finished!

Just a little bit of backstitching and some French knots left and it'll be done!
